The inaugural edition of the Jimmy Anklesaria OBA Inter-Batch Super Sixes Cricket Tournament was held on 5-6 May 2018, and attracted many younger Old Boys. Twelve teams registered, including two OBA teams representing mixed batches.
The oldest team to register comprised of students from the late 60’s including well known Old Boys like Padmashree awardee Dr Dipankar Banerjee.
The draws for the tournament were held live on the 4th of May, on Facebook. Fr Clifford Sequeira inaugurated the tournament with a prayer, while cricketing personalities of the OBA-Sadanand Vishwanath, Shavir Tarapore and Fazal Khaleel-were present.
The school ground was divided into two as two matches could be played simultaneously. The format was 7 players a side playing 6 overs each.Two food trucks were present to provide refreshments to the players.
The tournament was keenly fought. Players spanned batches from the 1960s to 2017. The finalists were the Batches of 2015 and 2017. The Batch of 2017 won the tournament. Mr Shivaprakash, Mr Uday Kumar (Vice Principal), Sadanand Vishwanath and George Ollapally presented the prizes to the winners.The OBA thanks Jimmy Anklesaria ’72 for sponsorship and Josephites who played and cheered.Special thanks to the Josephites from the 1960s for their enthusiastic participation.
